Best Foods for Glowing Skin

Most of us already know that effective skincare starts from the inside out, and if our diet is lacking essential nutrients, our skin will show it. That is the reason why eating certain foods can help to improve and maintain our skin's complexion and glow.

Foods that are good for the skin will help you to get your glow back. The condition of our skin is influenced by various factors, with diet and overall lifestyle being an integral part. The results of extreme exposure to the sun, smoking cigarettes and a diet rich in alcohol and ultra-processed foods will eventually show up on our skin.

Our skin gets less elastic, thinner and prone to fine lines as we age, but the right nutrients really can nourish your skin from the inside out. Here you will find my favourite foods for healthy skin.

1. Fatty Fish

Fish and Seafood are exceptionally good for your overall health. In particular, fatty fish can have great benefits for your skin. This is because of the omega-3 fatty acids and amino acids. They can help to keep your skin cells hydrated and plum, as well as clear your skin. By eating just a few small portions of fatty fish, including salmon and mackerel, you can boost your skin and reduce inflammation, fight lines, and blemishes.

2. Avocado

The all-time favourite for glowing skin is the avocado. It is considered one of the best fruits for glowing skin because they are full of antioxidants and healthy fats. In addition, avocados also contain vitamin C, vitamin A, and vitamin E, which help to prevent the skin from serious sun damage.

3. Eggs

These superfoods are rich in protein and essential nutrients. Not only are they great for our bodies, but can also provide a good amount of nourishment for our skin and hair. The lutein in eggs helps the skin to keep its elasticity. Simply add a fried egg on top of your avo toast for a balanced and nutritious meal for healthy skin.

4. Leafy greens

This might not come as a surprise that leafy greens are good for us and our skin. Leafy greens are packed full of vitamins and nutrients which are essential for glowing and healthy skin. Alongside protective antioxidants, they also contain vitamins A, C, and E. In detail, vitamin A stimulates cell turnover, whereas vitamin C protects damage from free radicals and vitamin E keeps our skin hydrated.

5. Sweet Potatoes

Sweet Potatoes contain an antioxidant called beta-carotene which converts into vitamin A. We need vitamin A for increasing skin repair while decreasing the skin's natural ageing process at the same time. Vitamin A supports the renewal of skin cells and also prevents damage from UV light.

Let me know what you think of these suggestions or if you have any other tips for healthy-looking skin.
